Sarawak Governor attends Nanta’s daughter’s wedding reception
by Samuel Aubrey · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (April 9): Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graced the wedding reception of Lilian Binjan Nanta and Jared Jimbau Chabu here on Wednesday.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were welcomed upon arrival by Lilian’s father Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi and his wife Datuk Angelina Celestine Ujang.
Among the dignitaries present were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his daughter Dayang Norjihan; Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof and his wife Datin Amar Ruziah Mohd Tahir; and the bride’s paternal grandfather Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Tun Jugah.
A posting on Wan Junaidi’s Facebook page said the culturally rich ceremony featured the couple’s grand entrance in traditional Iban costumes, a video presentation of their engagement and wedding, traditional donning of the Pua Kumbu cloth, and cultural performances by the Sarawak Cultural Foundation.
The bride’s uncle Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang delivered a speech on behalf of the family, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Wan Junaidi and Fauziah for their presence.
Similar sentiments were shared by Nanta and the groom’s mother Datu Dr Lulie Meling, who described the occasion as deeply meaningful for both families.
In the Facebook post, Wan Junaidi and his wife extended their congratulations to the newlyweds and their families, and offered prayers for lasting happiness, prosperity, and harmony in their marriage.
