The operation, dubbed Ops Serkap, was carried out by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division along Jalan Lundu–Biawak near Kampung Tanjam.
In a statement, JIM Sarawak said a team of 10 enforcement officers stopped a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) believed to be involved in illegal immigrant smuggling activities.
An inspection of the vehicle found six foreign nationals as passengers, along with the driver, who was also a foreign national.
All seven individuals were detained for further investigation under Section 26J of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (Act 670).
The MPV believed to have been used in the smuggling attempt was also seized to facilitate further investigations.
JIM Sarawak reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement efforts to curb illegal immigration and urged the public to cooperate by channelling information related to such offences to the authorities.
