Man detained over suspected cable vandalism case in Kuching

KUCHING (Dec 19): Police have detained a 36-year-old local man on suspicion of involvement in a cable vandalism case at Jalan BDC here on Thursday.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was apprehended while allegedly committing the crime together with two other individuals, who remain at large and are currently being tracked down.

“A records check also revealed that the detained suspect has 13 prior criminal records.

“The suspect also tested positive for drugs,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Alternatively, suspicious individuals can be reported to the Kuching District Police Headquarters control centre at 082-24444 or at any nearby police station.
