Arthur retained as PBRS president

KOTA KINABALU (Nov 16): Datuk Arthur J Kurup has been retained as Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president after winning the post uncontested at the party’s triennial delegates conference here on Saturday.

Kurup when speaking to reporters after the convention said even though all posts in the party were open for contest, he was surprised when he was nominated by all the party’s divisions and his nomination was uncontested.

“The message that I garnered from this is that we in PBRS are really united and I am really grateful to all party leaders as well as members for giving me their full support and the mandate to lead the party again,” he said.

At the same time, all positions of the supreme council members have been filled through elections at the supreme council level, as well as at the Women and Youth exco levels, he said.

“Additionally, during today’s delegates’ conference, many motions related to the economy, education and the empowerment of women in society were presented by divisions and delegates from across the state of Sabah,” he said, adding that there were also motions concerning political matters.

The new PBRS line-up are Kurup (President), Deputy President and Secretary General, Datuk Richard Kastum, Vice Presidents Motusin Bowie @ Matius, Nomriin Rosnie Manain, Vincent Lee @ Lee Yung Soon, Dr Zhamriee Gulam Rasul, Fung Hon Yi Sri, Jessel Cp Yansalang, who is also PBRS Youth chief and the party’s Women chief Datin Zainon Kayum Khan.

Deputy Secretary General Lt.M (Pa) Yillson Yanggun, Treasurer, Edward Yong, Deputy Treasurer, Alfeus Anis, Information Chief Datuk Fredie Sua and Deputy Information Chief Fazil Ajak.

The Supreme Council members are Duanis Mogirong @ Djuanis, Latifah Comidis, Yus Pg Pinsin, Manasie Salat, Morris Anis, Edward @ Word Sindam, Jairin Samud, Albert Angilus @ Khairul, Gindudul @ Thomas Tovil, Norman Lantayan @ Abdul Hamid, Dr. Edwin Laimin, Pius @ Roney Ganang, Kosmas Angot, Juliyus Palayak, Dumatin Laihon and Charles Ikang.
