KUCHING (Nov 8): All current committee members and nominees of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch for the upcoming branch committee election have declared that they will strictly adhere to the party’s election rules and regulations at its 30th triennial general meeting (TGM) and election.

In a statement, they also urged all party members to participate actively in the TGM, scheduled for Nov 10, where they will elect a unified leadership team to guide the branch, youth, and women’s sections for the next three years.

As the second-largest branch of SUPP, it said the Kuching Branch has served for 65 years in line with its founding principles: advocating for Sarawak’s autonomy and fostering a harmonious, prosperous society for all ethnicities.

The statement highlighted the branch’s history of service, with past leaders maintaining a commitment to integrity, fairness, and service to the people, consistently rejecting power and privilege for personal gain.

“In this election, the Branch Election Committee has handled candidates’ nomination forms with flexibility and leniency. Unless there is a serious violation of the party’s election rules and regulations, technical non-compliance has been accommodated, providing a fair opportunity for all candidates.

“The Branch Election Committees approach in prioritising unity deserves support,” it said.

The statement concludes by expressing regret over the involvement of certain external forces attempting to intervene in the election for ulterior motives.

It calls for party members to unite, reject misleading propaganda, and oppose division.

“Through democratic processes, members should elect a strong, capable, and principled leadership team that will enable the newly elected branch committee, youth and women section to grow stronger, upholding the legacy of past leaders and striving towards realising SUPP’s great mission.
