‘Still too early’ to comment on Ronald-to-GRS rumours, says Armizan
by Nancy Lai · Borneo Post OnlinePAPAR (Feb 16): Speculation that Bersatu Sabah liaison chaiman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee will be joining Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is premature and remains unverified, said Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
Armizan, who is GRS deputy secretary-general, said while he read a report circulating online about the potential move, it was “still too early” to comment.
“At this stage, I view it as speculation, perhaps just assumptions, as it is still too early.
“As a senior politician, I do not think Datuk Seri Dr Ronald would make a decision at this stage to move to any party, and not just GRS. However, for me, it is his right to determine his own political direction,” he said.
He was met by the press after officiating the Burger King drive-thru at Parklane City, Benoni here on yesterday.
Armizan said any discussion about joining GRS should be guided by the coalition’s four core principles, namely Sabah First, Sabah Prosper, Sabah Forward, and Sabah United.
“For me personally, I am not speaking specifically about Dr Ronald Kiandee, but about anyone who wishes to join GRS. We must return to the four core principles of GRS.”
He added it was his personal view that GRS should remain open to any party or individual wishing to join the coalition or any of its component parties.
“When we are aligned under local political parties, our voice will be stronger. We will be stronger when we are united,” he said.
