MIRI (Oct 26): The marketability rate of last year’s technical and vocational education training (TVET) graduates at the skills and training institutions under the federal Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) reached 95.92 per cent, with an average income of RM2,019.

In revealing this, KBS Deputy Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim said such excellent achievements obtained by the graduates through the Youth and Sports Skills Training Institution (ILKBS) proved that TVET education remained one of the best options to pave the way towards a bright future.

“In this regard, KBS will continue to ensure quality training so that ILKBS graduates would be more competent and in high demand by the industries,” he said at the National Youth Training Institute (IKBN) Miri 16th convocation ceremony for advanced certificate and certificate-level graduates, held at the institute’s multipurpose hall here today.

A total of 226 IKBN graduates in Autism Youth Inclusivity, Automotive Technology, Hospitality Technology, and Mechanical Technology courses received their certificates at the event.

Earlier in his speech, Adam Adli said KBS would remain committed towards improving and offering quality courses so as to align with the government’s 2030 vision of boosting the workforce in the economic sector to 35 per cent.

“This effort is in line with the Malaysian Youth Policy and Civil Youth Development Model 2030.

“In fact, Budget 2025 presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently proved the Malaysian government’s commitment and seriousness towards TVET when it presented an increase in allocation from RM6.8 billion this year, to RM7.5 billion for 2025.

“This aims to ensure that youths, especially from the vulnerable groups, would receive access to quality education,” he added.

Among those present were Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, KBS deputy secretary-general (strategic) Ramona Mohd Razali, and IKBN Miri deputy director (student affairs) Kaya Raju.
