Keningau man remanded in connection with incident of dog beaten to death with steel pipe
by Elton Gomes · Borneo Post OnlineKENINGAU (Nov 6): A man has been remanded for three days in connection with an incident where a dog was beaten to death at a car workshop here recently.
Keningau police chief Supt Yampil Garai said the suspect was detained after a video of the incident went viral yesterday.
“Police received a report of the viral video at 2.26pm on Nov 5 of a man seen beating a dog with a steel pipe to death.
“Police investigation revealed that the incident took place on Oct 24 at a car workshop at Kampung Patikang in Keningau.
“Following the report, police managed to track down and arrest the suspect around 10.30pm on Nov 5,” he said in a statement today.
Yampil said police also seized a steel pipe believed to have been used by the suspect in the attack.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code for mischief by killing or maiming any animal, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service.
In the video of the brutal incident, another man could be heard laughing while recording the video.
