MIRI (Nov 5): Persatuan Wanita Orang Ulu Miri (PWOUM) will hold a pre-Christmas Dinner at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club on Thursday.

Chairman Kijan Toynbee said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala is expected to attend the dinner starting at 7pm.

“This is one of our annual events aimed at fostering closer ties and promoting friendship.

“It is also a time for us to get together and exchange festive greetings with one another before we go back to our respective hometowns to celebrate Christmas,” she said.

Kijan said some 500 guests are expected to attend the event, which will give the Orang Ulu community the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with friends and family members of other races.

“Some of us do not see each other often even though we live in the same city, because many are busy with work and family matters.

“Therefore, this will be an opportunity for us to catch-up, mingle, and even make new friends,” she said.

The programme includes Christmas carols, cultural performances, sale of Orang Ulu handicrafts, Christmas fashion show, karaoke sessions, and lucky draws.
