KUCHING (April 8): The Sarawak government is accelerating the implementation of water supply projects statewide, which are fully funded by the state, said Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi.

The Minister for Utility and Telecommunication said the comprehensive rollout is being carried out through his ministry and its implementing agencies – Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and Sarawak Water.

“The Sarawak government remains committed to ensuring comprehensive and high-quality water supply coverage throughout the state through the implementation of various strategic projects and initiatives that include the construction of new water treatment plants, upgrading of existing plants, development of the Sarawak Water Grid System, and the replacement of ageing pipes with new ones – all funded using Sarawak government allocations.

“All these projects are based on the Sarawak Water Master Plan and the Sarawak Water Grid System framework. Implementation is ongoing and currently on schedule,” Julaihi posted on Facebook on Tuesday.

The Sebuyau assemblyman stressed that monitoring is conducted continuously, including frequent site visits and field inspections by ministry officials and agency personnel, to ensure smooth implementation and adherence to timelines.

“Monitoring is implemented on an ongoing basis, including periodic site visits to ensure the projects are carried out smoothly and meet the set timeline,” he said.
