KUCHING (March 6): Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian on Thursday visited the newly established History Corridor in Bau, which traces the journey of its Bau branch since the branch’s formation in 1961.

The History Corridor showcases a collection of old photographs from past activities, branch plaques and various memorabilia of historical value, highlighting the branch’s milestones and contributions to the community over the decades.

A brief launching ceremony for the corridor was held before Sim attended the SUPP Bau Branch Chinese New Year gala dinner at the Bau Community Hall on Thursday night.

During the visit, Sim also held an exchange session with Bau branch chairman Chong Yie Loong and several senior party leaders, who shared their experiences and stories on the branch’s long-standing service and development in the area.

The Deputy Premier, also Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, welcomed the establishment of the History Corridor, describing it as an important platform to help newer members gain a deeper understanding of the branch’s history and contributions.

“Through initiatives like this, the younger generation can better appreciate the struggles and efforts of earlier leaders and members in building the party and serving the community,” said Sim.

He also expressed hope that more items of historical value could be collected and properly preserved in the future to ensure that the party’s heritage and the memories of the local community continue to be passed down to the next generation.
