Is ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Actually Canceled? What Sources and ABC Are Saying

There appears to be some confusion over the future of Jimmy Kimmel’s long-running late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! But—despite reports to the contrary—ABC has claimed it’s not canceled.

Cancellation reports emerged yesterday, when a source told Page Six, “His contract is not getting extended” and said the show would wrap up in May 2027. The outlet also reported that “cost reductions may have played a factor in their decision to part ways with Kimmel” and that a source confirmed “it wouldn’t have anything to do with Trump.”

Cut to ABC, who denied claims that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is ending after its 24th season. In a statement to People, the network said, “This information is inaccurate—any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”

Jimmy didn’t directly address cancellation rumors during his monologue last night, but did say, “This is a big show for us; not only is this my first show back, this is our 4,000th show.” He added, “It’s a lot of shows. According to the White House, it’s too many shows. This show premiered after the Super Bowl in January 2003. There were those who said we would never last this long. There are even those who used the regulatory might of the FCC to unconstitutionally try to make sure we didn’t last this long. But we did. We did it the hard way, Brendan. And we are still here.”
