Hillary Clinton to Co-Host Podcast on 2026 Midterm Elections With Kara Swisher for Vox Media, Owned by James Murdoch

by · Variety

Hillary Clinton will get behind the podcasting mic in “High Stakes,” where the former Secretary of State will weigh in on the 2026 U.S. midterm elections in a new limited series with journalist Kara Swisher.

Under the deal with Vox Media, Clinton will get a split of ad revenue generated from the episodes alongside Swisher.

Vox Media is owned by James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems, which earlier this year bought the company’s podcast network, plus Vox.com and New York Magazine, reportedly for more than $300 million. Vox Media said “future collaborations” with Clinton and Swisher “are to come,” but didn’t elaborate.

The Clinton-Swisher co-hosted special “High Stakes” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 14, and will run as a third episode of Swisher’s podcast for New York Magazine, “On With Kara Swisher,” weekly on Wednesdays. The series launches as control of the U.S. Congress hangs in the balance with the 2026 elections.

“I don’t think the stakes for our country and the world have ever been higher than they are in November,” Clinton said in a statement provided by Vox Media. “People are hungry for real conversation about what’s happening in our democracy and what it will mean for their families, and I can’t think of a better partner for that than Kara. There will be some discussion, some debate and hopefully a lot of laughter.”

Vox Media says that in the limited series, Swisher will be “drawing out the wickedly funny and sharp woman Americans may not have gotten to see before.” Clinton previously served as a guest host of “Pivot,” filling in for Swisher’s regular co-host Scott Galloway.

“Think of this series [with Hillary Clinton] as ‘Pivot,’ but with an actual expert as my co-host,” Swisher joked. Clinton is “a global icon, she doesn’t hold back, and she’s going to bring the audience an invaluable perspective.”

Jim Bankoff, Vox Media co-founder and CEO, commented, “I’m immensely proud to bring Secretary Clinton — a hero to millions who has had a profound impact making the world a better place — to Vox Media as she embarks on this next chapter of her media career.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton spent her career in public service as an advocate, attorney, First Lady, U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of State, and presidential candidate. As First Lady of the United States, she traveled to more than 80 countries, standing up for human rights, democracy, and civil society. As Senator, the first woman elected to statewide office in New York, she worked across party lines to expand economic opportunity and access to quality, affordable health care. In her four years serving as President Barack Obama’s Secretary of State, she played a central role strengthening America’s global leadership.

In 2016, Clinton was the first woman nominated for president by a major U.S. political party. She won the national popular vote, earning the support of nearly 66 million Americans. Since leaving civil service and electoral politics, she has remained an active force for progress and human rights. She is the author of eleven best-selling books, including her groundbreaking book on children, It Takes A Village (1996), and the memoirs Living History (2003), Hard Choices (2014), and What Happened (2017).
