Both new seasons – each formatted as 20×60-minute episodes – were produced by U.K. indie Woodcut Media. The completed acquisition adds 40 new episodes to Radial’s existing holdings and gives the company the full franchise archive to deploy as a unified programming destination across its FAST and AVOD platforms.
“‘World’s Most Evil Killers’ is one of the most enduring franchises in the genre. When fans discover this series, they don’t stop at one episode. Having all 10 seasons means we can deliver that experience at scale – programming it as a true destination across our FAST and AVOD platforms in a way that drives real value for our partners,” said Jonitha Keymoore, senior VP of content acquisitions at Radial Entertainment.
The new seasons draw on cases spanning several decades, among them the wave of child killings in Atlanta attributed to Wayne Williams; the crimes of Charles Cullen, a healthcare worker whose story later became the basis for the film “The Good Nurse” starring Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain; New York and Detroit killers Joel Rifkin and Benjamin Atkins; Gregory Green, who killed members of his own family; and the Diane and Rachel Staudte case, which centered on poisonings carried out with antifreeze.
“‘World’s Most Evil Killers’ is a cornerstone of Woodcut Media’s true crime output. The series has evolved so much over the past decade, but we have always kept ethical storytelling at the heart of the production. I’m proud to have been involved in all 10 seasons and – 200 episodes later – I’m still enthralled and moved by the content and the contributors,” said Nick Mavroidakis, executive producer at Woodcut Media.
Season 9 was negotiated by Katie Carroll, senior manager of co-productions at Radial Entertainment, and Kelly Wright, managing director of distribution at Keshet International. Season 10 was handled by Keymoore and Koulla Anastasi, managing director of Woodcut International.
Radial Entertainment, which counts investment funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management among its backers, oversees a catalog of more than 70,000 titles spanning true crime, animation, horror, and other genres.
