The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is rapidly implementing reforms in the Elementary and Secondary Education Department under its governance roadmap to improve educational facilities across the province. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, said that revolutionary measures are being taken to strengthen the education sector and enhance learning environments in government schools. He said the provision of furniture to government schools across the province is underway and will be completed by June 2026, after which students in all schools will have access to quality furniture. The Chief Secretary added that planning has also been finalized for the construction of 3,500 new classrooms to improve educational infrastructure. To enhance transparency and quality in the examination system, e-marking will be introduced in 2026, with at least three papers in each discipline at the matriculation and intermediate levels. He further said that the recruitment process for 20,000 teachers is in progress and will be completed by February 28, while an effective monitoring system has been enforced to ensure 90 percent teacher attendance in schools. Shahab Ali Shah said that to promote students’ mental and physical development, various sports competitions were also organized during November and December 2025 across the province.
