Commuters face recurring breakdowns and heavy delays
Harian Metro reported that the Prime Minister’s swift intervention comes amidst a string of recent public transport disruptions across the Klang Valley rail network that have tested commuters’ patience:
- Cable Theft Delays: On October 12, both KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services suffered severe schedule changes and extended travel times after thieves stole 180 meters of signaling cables near Salak Tinggi and Putrajaya/Cyberjaya.
- Station Bottlenecks: On October 8, the MRT Kajang Line experienced massive overcrowding at the Bukit Bintang station due to a sudden surge in passenger volume, leaving crowds stuck for over three hours and causing ripple-effect delays at other major interchanges like LRT Bangsar.
With top authorities officially alerted to the daily nightmare faced by commuters, many transit users are hoping to see tangible improvements soon, including increased train frequency, additional coaches during peak hours, and heightened security across rail lines.
