Three Arrested After Woman Assaulted During Car Livestream in Kedah, Motive Unclear

Three individuals, including two women, have been detained to assist in an investigation following the circulation of a viral video showing a woman being attacked while inside a car during a live broadcast.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, said the incident is believed to have occurred at around 5:02 PM on Saturday (11 April).

According to him, while the victim was inside a car in front of a house in Bandar Laguna Merbok, a Toyota Vellfire carrying four individuals known to her arrived at the scene.

“The suspects assaulted the complainant by hitting her face, head and body, causing injuries. The suspects then took two mobile phones and smashed them onto the road, causing damage,” he said.

Hanyan added that the motive behind the incident is still under investigation and two investigation papers have been opened.

Three individuals arrested

He said three individuals have been arrested to assist with the investigation.

“We detained a 30‑year‑old man and a 29‑year‑old woman to assist in the investigation. This case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 427 of the Penal Code.

“Another person detained is the complainant herself, a 28‑year‑old woman, and her case is being investigated under Section 448 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing a woman who was livestreaming on a social media platform from inside her car being attacked by another woman.
