Dismembered Woman in Sabah: PDRM Believes Missing Body Parts May Have Been Scavenged by Wild Animals

Two more body parts of the murder and dismemberment victim that have yet to be found are believed to have been carried off by dogs or possibly mixed with piles of rubbish, making search efforts difficult.

In the incident on 12 February in Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar, a 44-year-old woman was found dead, with her body cut up and discarded at a garbage dump. A 71-year-old man, believed to be the victim’s fiancé, was arrested as the main suspect.

Three other individuals, who are the suspect’s children, one man and two women, were also detained to assist with the investigation.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said that, so far, his department has not developed any new leads to trace the remaining two body parts. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) believes the missing parts may have been carried off by dogs, scavenged by wild animals, or possibly mixed in with the rubbish.

He said this when speaking to reporters during an Iftar ceremony with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun at the Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD) on Saturday night (21 February). Jauteh added that the investigation is now in its final stages before the papers are submitted to the public prosecutor.

“Several arrests have been made, mostly involving family members of the main suspect, to assist in the investigation. The suspect’s remand is also still ongoing.

“The investigation is now in its final stages, and we will send it to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions,” he said, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Earlier, it was reported that the 71-year-old suspect was unhappy that the victim had remarried after calling off their engagement. The victim’s son also said that the engagement money amounting to RM7,000 had been returned to the suspect.
