A Standard Five male student from a primary school in Batu Berendam, Melaka, was injured after falling from the first-floor corridor of a school building on Wednesday (6 May).

The incident is believed to have happened when the student attempted to retrieve his shoe, which was allegedly thrown by another male student onto the roof.

The victim tried to retrieve his shoe, but may have slipped

According to the older sister of one of the students at the school, the incident reportedly occurred near the end of the school session while it was raining, making the floor and roof slippery. The teenager, who declined to be identified, said she learned about the incident from her three younger siblings, who attend the school.

“Based on what my 11-year-old sibling said, another student had allegedly thrown the victim’s shoe from the first floor, causing it to land on the roof of the pedestrian walkway below.”
“The victim then tried to retrieve the shoe but is believed to have slipped due to the wet conditions before falling,” she said, as reported by Malaysian Gazette.

She added that the incident reportedly occurred around midday while students were preparing to head home after school.

“The victim was later rushed to Hospital Melaka for further treatment,” she said.

Meanwhile, in a Sinar Harian report, Christopher Patit, the Melaka Tengah district police chief, confirmed that authorities have received a report on the case. At the time of writing (7 May), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
