Ready To Mingle? Finland is Offering 16 Singles A FREE All-Expenses-Paid Trip To Fly Over For A Blind Date!

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

The Nordic nation of Finland is making a case for expanding your romantic search by a few thousand miles. If you are single, passport-ready, and eager for an unforgettable European getaway, you might want to pay attention.

According to Forbes, the country’s official tourism board, has launched an exciting new campaign called the Finnish Dinner Date initiative. The program is offering 16 single adults an all-expenses-paid, four-day trip to Finland in February 2027, combining travel, local culture, and world-class cuisine.

What’s included in the free trip?

The four-day trips are scheduled to take place between February 9 and 19, 2027. Eight lucky winners will be flown out to Finland’s seaside capital, Helsinki, while another eight will head to Tampere, a stunning city nestled in the country’s picturesque Lakeland region, as reported by Forbes.

Visit Finland is picking up nearly the entire tab, covering:

  • Round-trip international travel and transportation.
  • Accommodations in private rooms for the duration of the stay.
  • All meals and scheduled cultural activities, including traditional saunas, outdoor adventures, and sightseeing.
  • Exclusive group dining experiences featuring custom tasting menus crafted by some of Finland’s top chefs, such as MasterChef Professionals alum Adele Kinnunen in Helsinki and Bocuse d’Or competitor Henry Tikkanen in Tampere.

While winners get flights and hotels fully covered, there is a catch: travelers cannot choose their destination city. The tourism board will randomly assign winners to either Helsinki or Tampere, revealing the location only after they confirm their participation.

The inspiration behind the campaign and how it works

The initiative was inspired by a quirky Finnish grocery store dating trend known as sinkkukori (single basket), where shoppers grab a pink basket to signal that they are single and open to meeting someone. Visit Finland decided to take this concept global to spotlight the nation’s incredible food scene.

Although marketed as blind dates, the tourism board clarifies that there is no formal matchmaking service involved. The main event is a group dinner where international travelers join local Finnish singles over an exquisite tasting menu, designed purely as a fun cultural and culinary exchange rather than one-on-one romance.

Applications are open to single adults aged 18 and older from around the world (excluding Finnish citizens and residents). To enter, candidates must:

  1. Create an original video in English answering the question: “What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?”
  2. Post the video on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube using the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tagging Visit Finland’s official account.
  3. Submit the official online application with a link to the video before the deadline on November 10, 2026.

Winners will be announced publicly on December 1, 2026.
