Enraged at JPJ Seizing His Pickup for 8 Years of No Road Tax, Melaka Man Attempts to Torch Vehicle with Petrol

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

A dramatic enforcement incident unfolded in Melaka when a 29-year-old man reacted aggressively after being informed that his four-wheel drive vehicle would be seized by authorities.

The incident took place along Lebuh Rembia in Alor Gajah during a routine operation conducted by officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Melaka.

Initially, the driver appeared calm and cooperative, complying with the instructions given by enforcement officers. However, the situation took a sudden turn when he was told his vehicle would be confiscated due to multiple violations.

Eight years of no road tax and other offences

According to authorities, checks revealed that the man had committed several serious offences. He did not possess a valid driving licence, the vehicle was uninsured, and its Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), commonly known as road tax, had expired. Further inspection revealed that the road tax had not been renewed for an alarming eight years.

A ‘fiery’ escalation

Upon hearing that his vehicle would be seized, the man became visibly upset and began acting uncontrollably. In a moment of anger, he contacted a friend and allegedly asked for petrol, intending to set his own vehicle on fire.

The situation grew increasingly tense when a passenger, believed to be the driver’s friend, intervened. The passenger reportedly issued threats and claimed to be a former detainee, further escalating the confrontation.

Despite the rising tension and aggressive behaviour displayed by both individuals, JPJ enforcement officers maintained their professionalism and composure throughout the incident. They adopted a calm and measured approach, successfully defusing the situation without resorting to force or allowing it to spiral into violence.

Eventually, both the driver and his companion calmed down and complied with the enforcement actions. No injuries or untoward incidents were reported during the operation, according to a report by Harian Metro and a statement posted on JPJ Melaka’s Facebook page.

The vehicle was subsequently seized and transported to the JPJ Melaka impound depot for further action.
