Finally! LRT3 Shah Alam Line to Officially Open on 29 June After 10 Years of Development

The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line is expected to commence full operations on 29 June, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

Speaking at a press conference after officiating the new Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bandar Tasik Selatan branch office at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan on Monday (22 June), Anthony Loke said the official launch ceremony for the new rail service will be held this Saturday (27 June).

Prime Minister to officiate launch

The ceremony will take place at the LRT3 project depot and will be officiated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“The official opening ceremony for LRT3 will be held at the project depot. All media representatives will be formally invited to attend the event,” Loke said, as quoted by Harian Metro.

Boosting connectivity across Klang Valley

The LRT3 will benefit commuters travelling from Klang to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. The Shah Alam Line is expected to enhance public transportation connectivity across the Klang Valley, particularly benefiting commuters travelling between Shah Alam, Klang, and surrounding areas, while easing road congestion in one of the country’s busiest urban regions.

The anticipated launch of the LRT3 line marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s efforts to improve urban mobility and strengthen its public transportation network.

The project, which broke ground in 2016, has undergone a series of revisions over the years, including cost-cutting measures implemented by the government.
