PDRM Officer Allegedly Demands RM2k to ‘Settle’ Case After Finding 4D Ticket Record on Johor Man’s Phone
by Didi · WORLD OF BUZZA story has recently gone viral after a woman shared an incident involving her husband, who was driving in Johor when he was stopped by a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer. The officer allegedly demanded a sum of RM2,000 from the man.
According to a Facebook post, the woman recalled that her husband initially believed it was a routine check, until the officer demanded to see his mobile phone.
Officer allegedly demanded RM2,000 to “settle” the case
Upon inspecting the husband’s phone, the officer reportedly found records of 4D lottery ticket purchases made through unofficial channels or an unlicensed app, which is considered illegal in Malaysia.
“I never thought something like this would happen to my husband. At first, he thought it was just a routine check, but the officer immediately demanded, ‘Give me your phone,'” the woman shared.
“He handed it over obediently, and the officer swiped through it, noticing a record of him buying some gambling points. These were just occasional small purchases; he never sold anything,” she added.
The woman further alleged that the officer then told her husband to pay RM2,000 or risk being taken to the police station, where the cost of the incident would supposedly be much higher.
“Two people, RM1,000 each, totalling RM2,000. Settle this now, or we’ll take you to the police station. Then it won’t be this amount,” the officer reportedly threatened.
Alleged negotiation and settlement
Stunned and carrying no cash, the husband quietly called his wife for assistance.
“I usually manage our finances, so he called me with his voice shaking: ‘Help! They want RM2,000, or they’ll take me to the station,'” she recalled.
“I was furious. Not scared, but what kind of nonsense is this? He was just buying a few points, not selling, and not committing a serious crime. This happened in broad daylight. Is this really law enforcement?”
During a phone conversation with the officer, the woman explained that the family did not have that much money. She even suggested that if her husband truly needed to be arrested, the officer should proceed.
Following this, the officer allegedly offered to lower the amount. The woman was instructed to transfer RM200 per person (a total of RM400) to her husband, who then withdrew the cash and handed it over to the officer.
“I’m sharing this not to seek sympathy or to encourage anyone to confront officers. We were just lucky this time that the officer ‘agreed to negotiate.’ If you run into someone more difficult, things could turn out very differently,” she warned.
“We lost money, but thankfully nothing worse happened. I truly hope this is the last time we have to experience something like this.”
