Campaign launched encouraging relocation to Leitrim
by Shane Ó Curraighín, https://www.facebook.com/rtenews/ · RTE.ieLeitrim County Council has launched a campaign encouraging urban dwellers at home and abroad to consider relocating to the northwest county.
A three-month social media-led campaign will feature the stories of individuals and families who have made the move northwest from across Ireland and beyond.
The 'Most Definitely Leitrim' campaign will highlight the county’s remote workers and those who have restored vacant and derelict properties through Croí Cónaithe and other schemes such as the Vacant Above the Shop Grant.
The campaign seeks to highlight the practical supports available to those considering a move to Leitrim, through highlighting experiences of others, who have made the move.
Some of those who provided testimonies include a former Dublin-based Marketing Manager who founded a jewellery business in Rooskey, a linguist whose clients include the European Parliament and couples who have restored old farmhouses.
As part of the initiative, Leitrim County Council is also launching a survey on the experience of remote and flexible working in the county.
The local authority wants to hear from people working remotely in Leitrim, hybrid commuters, and professionals elsewhere who may be open to relocating.
The research will explore broadband connectivity, childcare access, housing, co-working facilities and community supports, with the findings expected to inform future investment and policy in the county.
Council Cathaoirleach Councillor Paddy Farrell says the campaign is about showcasing opportunities for those seeking a better balance, stronger community connections and a high quality of life.
"The campaign highlights not only the growing potential of remote working in Leitrim, but also the positive impact schemes like Croí Cónaithe are having in helping people restore homes, settle in communities and build a future here," he said.
Leitrim County Council has set up a dedicated webpage with relevant information for those considering a move to the northwest.
