Leaving Cert appeal results to be released today

Leaving Certificate results will be available to students who appealed their original grades today.

Appeal applications were made by 12,509 candidates against 26,454 individual results this year.

Following the appeals process, 5,119 results have been upgraded, which is 19% of the total number of appealed grades.

The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has also issued 110 upgrades in results that candidates had not appealed as part of its own assurance checks.

The number of appeals was 27% higher than in 2025, when 20,764 results were appealed by 10,048 candidates, and 85% higher than in 2024, when 14,287 appeals were processed by the SEC.

19% of candidates following the established Leaving Certificate programme made an appeal against one or more results.

Less than ten of the 4,779 Leaving Certificate Applied candidates appealed their results.

The SEC says that the marking of each candidate's work is fully reviewed question by question using the original marking scheme.

The review is also carried out by a different examiner from the one who originally marked the paper.

When candidates access their appeal results, they will see whether their examination mark changed on appeal. If it did, they will also see their new post-mark adjustment mark and final grade.

The appeal results are released at this time to ensure that they can be considered for entry to higher education through the Central Applications Office (CAO).

The CAO will issue its Round 5 offers on 29 September.

Results will be available to candidates through the Candidate Self Service Portal on www.examinations.ie from 11am today.

Candidates who appealed their examination results may view their remarked written examination scripts. The deadline for applying to view remarked scripts is 28 September.

Candidates may also refer their examination appeal to the Independent Appeal Scrutineers (IAS). The deadline for applying to the IAS is 9 October 2026.
