43 people, including 3 children, deported to Georgia

Forty-three Georgian nationals have been removed from Ireland on foot of Immigration Orders from Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan, gardaí have said.

Thirty-three men, seven women and three children arrived in Georgia this evening after leaving Dublin on a chartered flight.

Gardaí said four of the men had been convicted of offenses in Ireland.

Forty-two of the people were removed on foot of Deportation Orders and one man was removed on foot of a Return Decision issued by Mr O’Callaghan.

A spokesperson for gardaí said An Garda Síochána "continues to work closely with the Department of Justice in implementing immigration policy and the Irish Prison Service in the implementation of these operations".
