Man charged with murder of Paul Mackin Jnr in Belfast

A man in his 40s has been charged with the murder of Paul Mackin Jnr in Belfast.

Police in Northern Ireland launched a murder investigation following the death of Mr Mackin Jnr, who was assaulted in north Belfast on Monday.

Mr Mackin Jnr, aged 44, died in hospital last night from injuries sustained in an attack in a residential property in Duncairn Parade.

A 41-year-old man who was arrested earlier, has been charged with murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, and false imprisonment.

A report will also be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service for a number of other offences.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

A 40-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, have both been released unconditionally.

Police have appealed to the members of the public to avoid speculation on the circumstances around this matter, which they said is upsetting for the family and friends of the victim and could have a detrimental impact on criminal justice proceedings.
