The wind and rain warning for Cork and Kerry will be in place until 8pm tomorrow

Yellow rain or wind warnings issued for six counties

Status Yellow wind or rain warnings will come into effect for six counties from midnight.

Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo will be on yellow alert until 2pm tomorrow afternoon, with Met Éireann warning of difficult travelling conditions, fallen trees and brances and debris or loose objects being displaced.

A separate Status Yellow wind and rain warning will be in place until 8pm tomorrow for Cork and Kerry.

The forecaster said there will be very strong and gusty southwesterly winds, along with squally heavy showers or longer spells of rain and a chance of hail and thunder.

There could also be a risk of spot flooding in Cork and Kerry.

Earlier, wind or rain warnings for eight counties were lifted at 9pm.
