Man and teen arrested after firearm incident in Dublin

A man in his 20s and a teenage boy have been arrested following a firearm incident in Dublin.

Gardaí responded to reports of a firearm incident in Ballymun at 3pm.

The man in his 20s and a teenage boy were subsequently arrested.

They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 in a garda station in the Dublin region.

There were no reports of injuries in relation to the incident.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.

Separately on Sunday, gardaí from the Ballymun Drug Unit conducted proactive foot patrols in the Coultry Park area of Ballymun, as part of Operation Tara.

During the course of a search within the park, gardaí recovered a firearm concealed in a bush near the playground.

The handgun was found with one round in the chamber.

The firearm will undergo ballistic and forensic examination.

No arrests have been made at this stage, but investigating gardaí said they are "following a definite line of enquiry".
