High oil prices under Trump: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 1, 2026 

The Issue: Democrats making political hay out of high gas prices thanks to the war in Iran.

Gasoline prices under former President Joe Biden were over $5 a gallon (“Trump at the pump,” Sept. 18).

Democrats cheered, hoping to force the Green New Deal and electric vehicles on us.

With gas prices reaching $4 .50 a gallon under President Trump, the Democrats are using it to bash him.

The overall economy was worse under Biden. Democrats think we’ve forgotten, but we have not.

I’d much rather pay more (temporarily) for gas than have our borders open and pay taxes to support illegal immigrants.

Anyone who considers voting for the Democrats because of high gas prices should think about all the treasonous insanity that they will reassert.

Initially, the American people believed that Iran was developing nuclear weap­on and therefore was worth attacking.

However, the media have repeatedly promoted the idea that Iran is less of a threat than inflation and higher oil prices. Americans have bought this narrative and ignore the true threat — Iran — because they refuse to question the media. This is strange.

When American oil companies can sell oil for more overseas, they sell it overseas. There’s no discount for US consumers.

Yet we’ve been told — by both former Vice President Kamala Harris and President Trump — that we need to accept higher prices at the pump for the wars abroad.

If patriotism means Americans paying more for gas, maybe we should wave the flag in the faces of US oil companies who are selling gas for more.

Americans made economic sacrifices for the fight against Germany and Japan during the Second World War. Spoiled and entitled Americans in 2026 will not do the same.

Meanwhile, elite political commentators attack Trump for temporarily higher oil prices. He nevertheless pushes on for a solution to the Iran nuclear problem.

Trump is indeed “the man.”

The Issue: Prime Minister Netanyahu’s remarks on the state of Israel’s war against Iran in his UN address.

Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke powerful words about Israel’s need to win against Iran (“Gov. sides with Zo vs. Netanyahu,” Sept. 25).

His concerns and determination should apply to America as well. If Iran develops a nuclear bomb, it will use it on us as well as on Israel.

Strategies differ in that Israel must be ready to confront actual warfare with the Islamic regime, something Israel is quite good at. The United States, on the other hand, must fight the takeover from within by socialists.

The alliance between the Democratic Socialists and Islamists will be far more effective than any effort to take over the US by military force. I would say the takeover is right on schedule.

I totally disagree with the New York Post’s take on Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations.

What did his speech accomplish besides spreading ill will among world leaders at a time when they were hoping for a peace deal?

As for Netanyahu’s personal attacks against Mayor Mamdani, the mayor should wear his attacks as a badge of honor.

It is Netanyahu who needs to reflect and question why he remains so unpopular in America and around the world.
