The shutdown stretches on: Letters to the Editor — March 26, 2026

· New York Post

The Issue: TSA agents continue to work without pay as the partial government shutdown continues.

During heightened terror activity, Democrats are refusing to fund the Department of Homeland Security because they are against ICE (“End of the lines near?” March 25).

ICE is already funded, so the main people being affected are TSA workers and American travelers. Now ICE is being diverted to help TSA agents and American travelers. Democrats should be ashamed of themselves.

There seems to be some uproar among a handful of Democratic members of Congress regarding President Trump’s deployment of ICE agents to “assist” TSA agents at a few airports. Uproar? More like political noise — like a mosquito buzzing in your ear.

I wonder why people like Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Sen. Chuck Schumer even bother talking. Who really cares what people like them say anymore?

You constantly refer to a “Democratic shutdown,” but there is no such thing. There’s a government shutdown because the two political parties did not come to an agreement on how to operate the federal government.

The Republicans are apparently fine with ICE murdering US citizens who oppose government policy, and the Democrats are not. The Post is apparently an imitator of the Nazi Joseph Goebbels, as is Trump: Say a lie often enough about the shutdown and hope people believe you.

With so many government shutdowns caused by mostly Democrats, voters should remember who not to re-elect into Congress. Those politicians don’t care about our TSA agents not being paid or the disruption at airports affecting us.

They are chauffeured and fly aboard private planes. They’ve always been way out of touch with a common voter’s lifestyle.

It’s tragic that we don’t have enough money to pay for TSA agents and air traffic controllers, forcing them to work without pay, at great risk to the flying public.

Yet somehow President Trump has no problem squandering hundreds of billions of dollars in taxpayer money to fund an illegal and unprovoked war in Iran that’s only getting worse by the day, destroying the global economy and making another Vietnam. This is shameful.

Democrats need to vote yes and fund the TSA. It’s that simple. Time to help Americans.

The shutdown could end in a day if the TSA employees want their money. Every agent should just not go to work. They’d shut down the trillion-dollar airline industry, putting real pressure on the Democrats.

Delta’s CEO condemning the Dems for their actions means only one thing: Airlines are starting to sweat. A walkout means the airlines lose, which means Dem political donations from the airlines will vanish. Hit them in their wallets and it will end. TSA workers have the power, they’re just afraid to use it.

I think members of Congress shouldn’t get paid when they can’t agree on a budget. That’s their job. They were elected to protect and support our citizens but they are causing a lot of pain and frustration for political benefit. They use these tactics way too often, and people are tired of it.

All the finger-pointing and name-calling on both sides is very juvenile and undignified. There should be more consequences for this type of behavior.

Schumer and Jeffries need to go. This game the two of them have been playing needs to end. The additional participants in this game to not fund the Department of Homeland Security includes some Republican turncoats.

Have you no shame for what you have put all these workers through? They have no paycheck and are unable to buy food or pay their mortgages. These selfish Democrats hate Trump and have made his presidency hell because he was elected and they lost.
