Europe’s leaders still refuse to face the far-left’s assault on civilization

· New York Post

Can France’s Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders admit that the violence sweeping their nations has nothing to do with any legitimate grievance?

It’s not students seeking better schools or moms decrying the high cost of groceries, as media reports keep gaslighting: It’s the far left, allied with Islamists, out to bully their neighbors into submission.

The rioters aim to burn it all down, spread chaos, destroy the civilized world’s very foundations.

Pretending these are “cost of living” protests offers the goons a false legitimacy.

Sure, the riots, which began in France and have echoed in numerous other European nations now (Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Albania and Belgium), follow on far smaller protests about schools and then living-cost grievances.

But the far left, joined by unassimilated migrants, turned those demonstrations into rioting, looting, arson and attacks on police.

Not to mention statue-smashing and attacks on synagogues.

“Down with the state, the police and the fascists,” shouted Saturday’s marchers in France.

They’re not seeking a boost in the teacher-student ratio.

Some government officials admit organized radical leftist groups are enflaming the violence; a French intelligence assessment reportedly cited Antifa and other far-left groups as key instigators.

Far-left politicians, above all presidential hopeful Jean-Luc Mélenchon, cheer on the madness while insincerely tut-tutting at the violence and pretending socialism is the cure rather the disease.

Yes, Macron has blamed “ultra-left groups” for the turmoil, but he also promises billions more for in public funding for schools, as if that’s the real issue.

And when a gunman Friday opened fire on people of North African descent, killing one, he damned it as “the first time there has been a terrorist act aimed at killing our compatriots and our children for the color of their skin” or religion — outrageously ignoring decades of deadly antisemitic and anti-Christian attacks, as well as mass Islamist terror such as the 2015 Bataclan slaughter.

Disgraceful, especially when so many rioters carry Palestinian flags.

The rioting — a black-bloc assault on the Colosseum! — should be a wakeup call, prompting Macron & Co. to rally the sensible center against the anarchists, crypto-communists and Islamists.

Stand up for civilization, or the assault will redouble.
