Dave Portnoy hasn’t paid off $1,000 Michigan-Ohio State bet: Urban Meyer

· New York Post

Dave Portnoy hasn’t put his money where his mouth is.

Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer claimed that the Barstool boss — and Michigan alum — has yet to cough up his $1,000 bet after the Buckeyes trounced the Wolverines on Nov. 29.

“Portnoy still owes me 1,000 bucks, I know that,” Meyer said during his “Triple Option” podcast with Fox Sports co-hosts Rob Stone and Mark Ingram.

The show reposted the clip to its social media and attached the message, “Please pay your debts, Dave.”

Ahead of the rivalry game in Ann Arbor, Meyer and Portnoy made a bet on Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” that the loser would pledge one grand to the winning school’s NIL fund.

The nationally televised handshake was then notarized by Rob Gronkowski, with the Super Bowl champ asserting that he’d make sure the loser pays up.

The Buckeyes then held the Wolverines to just 163 yards of total offense en route to a 27–9 thumping, Ohio State’s first win over Michigan since 2019.

Portnoy’s silence on the matter is deafening, not only because he shook hands on national TV — but also because he’s notorious for constantly lambasting both the Buckeyes and their fans with his growing national presence in college football.

He’s become such a headache for Ohio State that the university banned him from the Horseshoe one week into the 2025 campaign.

Granted, the stunning firing and arrest of head coach Sherrone Moore have presented both Portnoy and Michigan with much more pressing issues to worry about.

Following the Ohio State loss, Portnoy declared that he was “out” on dumping more money into Michigan’s NIL fund if five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood — whom the Barstool boss helped lure from LSU — threatened to transfer.

Time will tell if his stance holds up in the court of Gronk.
