Mikie’s Delaney Hall stunt: Letters to the Editor — May 28, 2026
· New York PostThe Issue: Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s visit to the Delaney Hall detention center on Memorial Day.
New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill disgraced her office by protesting against ICE in Newark on Memorial Day of all days.
Sherrill knows better: ICE is lawfully carrying out its duties under watchful eyes, protecting the very people she governs (“NJ gov ripped for ICE show,” May 26).
Democrats across the nation are hurting Americans and embarrassing their constituents and themselves with reprehensible demonstrations that don’t represent the opinions of many Americans.
Please leave ICE to do its job lawfully and effectively.

During Memorial Day weekend, while homeless veterans were sleeping in the street, Gov. Mikie “photo-op” Sherrill went to an ICE detention center in Newark, wanting a tour to make sure the illegal aliens housed there are being handled with kid gloves.
She was rightly turned away, photo-op thwarted.
Sen. Andy Kim, Dem political hack, and Rep. Rob Menendez, son of “Gold Bars” Bob Menendez, were allowed in.
This shows where Democrats’ alliances lie: illegal aliens over American veterans.

If so-called sanctuary cities would cooperate with ICE, there would be no reason for ICE to go into the streets and guess if someone is a criminal or not.
The process would move smoothly, and everyone would be safer.
The logic of these anti-ICE protesters is baffling.

On Memorial Day, Gov. Sherrill tried gaining access to the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility — and of course she was denied.
She decided to grandstand on Memorial Day, taking away from honoring fallen soldiers.
Politicians love to make a name for themselves while illegal migrants break the law.

Delaney Hall houses violent felons who came over the Biden-Harris open border.
Sherrill and Sens.
Cory Booker and Andy Kim want to make sure these criminals have a luxury stay.
They all could now be called the worst of the worst politicians, siding with those who will harm them and their families.
Who are the ignorant people that voted for them?

The Issue: The airing of the final episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Good riddance to “The Late Show” (“ ‘Late’ finally put to sleep,” May 23).
Ever since CBS decided not to renew the show, lefties like Bruce Springsteen have been trying to put out the false narrative that President Trump was responsible for its cancellation.
Stephen Colbert’s show was one of CBS’s most expensive shows, reportedly costing over $100 million a year, while losing between $40 million to $50 million annually.
Colbert’s salary was around $15 million a year.
Easy math.
CBS made a good business decision.

It seems as if The Post has had one piece or another about Colbert every day since his show was finally taken off the air.
OK, it’s part of the current news cycle, but I’d wager that most of your readers couldn’t care less.
The best way to celebrate his departure would be to allow him to fade into the obscurity and irrelevance he so rightly deserves.

So, Colbert ruins a late-night comedy franchise by abandoning laughter in favor of rip-and-slash political commentary.
He made millions while his show lost millions.
Then, when it was canceled, he whined about being a martyr.
Not buying it.
