Fake moderates like Cait Conley embrace the worst Democratic lunacy

· New York Post

Democrat Cait Conley’s bid to oust GOP Rep. Mike Lawler showcases her party’s main national post-2024 gimmick: Candidates pretend to be sane moderates only to unleash progressive insanity once in office.

Conley, for example, poses as a salt-of-the-earth Hudson Valley native daughter running to fight for the interests of the little guy.

Never mind her real life story as a Dem apparatchik handed a mysteriously lucrative AI-industry job who moved back to New York purely to run for this office: Her actual platform is bananas.

She supports a “public option” for health insurance (also known as Medicare for All), as well as massive handouts to politically favored groups in the name of affordable housing, and sees the main issues on immigration as “reining in ICE” and “creating a pathway to citizenship” for “millions of undocumented immigrants.”

This last came clear at Wednesday’s debate, when Lawler cornered her by pointing out that sanctuary policies like those she has backed time and again will ensure more tragedies like the murder of upstater Sheridan Gorman — killed by a Venezuelan illegal in Chicago.

Conley had no real answer because she is all-in on open borders, as are the vast majority of her Dem comrades.

It’s the same game across the country.

In Texas, Dem Senate hopeful contest James Talarico plaintively pretends his views on gender, immigration and other issues are normal.

Just ignore his past proud statements about the six biological sexes and ICE being an “out of control” “secret police force.”

For a more unmistakable warning, look at Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, who ran on promises of bipartisanship, pragmatism and a central focus on affordability.

No sooner did she take office than she ended co-operation between local law enforcement and ICE statewide, forced power companies to follow insane carbon-offset rulesand backed the illegal redistricting effort to cut the GOP down to a single House seat in the state.

Or look at Joe Biden’s presidency.

Biden, the ultimate establishment candidate, based his 2020 run on a return to normalcy from the allegedly aberrant politics of the first Trump term.

Instead, America got one of the most radical presidents ever: Joe opened our border, enshrined dangerous gender ideology in health and social policy, woke-ified the federal government to push illegal DEI and withdrew disastrously from Afghanistan.

In a perverse sense, radicals like Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed and New York’s Rep.-to-be Darializa Avila Chevalier are more trustworthy than the Conleys and Talaricos: They embrace anti-American rhetoric proudly and support terrorism openly.

It’s terrible that such monsters may win, but the true menaces are the “moderates” like Conley — who will deliver the opposite of what they promise.

Should these deceptions prevail in enough close races to produce a Democratic House and Senate, recent history shows us exactly what to expect on Day One of the next Congress: a major mask-off moment, with hard-left colors flying proudly.
