Democrats’ most disgusting Epstein Files abuses

For all the noise about First Lady Melania Trump “reviving” the Jeffrey Epstein story, Democratic smear merchants were never going to let it fade.

Trump on Thursday forthrightly damned and debunked the endless insinuations regarding her supposed links to the late unlamented perv, while also (perhaps understandably) feeding the furor by calling for the “victims” to be heard.

In reality, no one claiming to be an Epstein victim has any trouble finding eager ears in the media, or on Capital Hill.

And famous, wealthy men whose names appear somewhere in “the Epstein files” are getting dragged to testify: Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is set to appear May 6 before the House Oversight Committee; Microsoft’s Bill Gates, on June 10.

Despite the fact that zero evidence has ever surfaced of the supposed vast pedo sex-trafficking ring.

Prominent Democrats like Reps. Jamie Raskin (Md.) and Ro Khanna (Calif.), and eccentric headline-hunting GOP Rep. Tom Massi (Ky.) keep claiming the scandal’s far bigger than yet known, but never ever deliver any goods.

Epstein was a sleaze and a sex criminal, and an influence-peddler on a vast scale, hob-nobbing with rich-and-powerful folks from Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman and Elon Musk to Gates and Lutnick; his affairs make for a powerful story about money, sex and accountability. 

Yet nothing indicates any of those poobahs committed any crimes, so how this merits endless congressional hearings is a mystery — unless the actual purpose of those hearings is to get camera time for Raskin, Massie et al.

Oh, and to forward their mudslinging at the Trumps — who provably cut off contract with the perv two decades ago: One now-released FBI document shows Donald Trump congratulating the cops for investigating Epstein and urging them to look at “evil” Ghislaine Maxwell, too.

But unscrupulous Dems (with an assist from Trump-hating Massie) keep painting The Donald as sitting beside Epstein on the throne of a Satanic global cabal of pedophile traffickers.

And that literally everything Trump has ever done in term two is an effort to distract from this (completely made up) fact. 

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) routinely promotes crazy claimes; he all but accused Trump of rape in a congressional hearing, laundering claims from known confabulator Dan Ferree.

Raskin, a repeated Russiagate liar, has conducted an endless media circus over the release of the Epstein Files, regularly insisting the real dirt is hidden under redactions (which are legally required to protect Epstein victims) while never actually claiming to have seen evidence of a single crime.

Khanna, meanwhile, named four men as rich Epstein associates exposed in the Files that the Trump Justice Department was protecting; in fact they were featured in a photo caption amid those thousands upon thousands of documents; they had nothing to do with the financier. 

This is Russiagate 2.0 — except it’s 1,000 times more far-fetched and deranged.

If Dems like Raskin and Lieu actually believed this stuff, they belong not in Congress but confined to a mental-health ward. 

But they don’t believe it, of course. 

As soon as one of his Dem colleagues got caught up in the Epstein mess, Raskin pretended it didn’t matter: He explained that Stacey Plaskett, now the Virgin Islands delegate to the House, was merely “taking a phone call from a constituent” when she was strategizing with Epstein about how to hurt Trump in 2019.

Dems in Congress know that as long as they pump out slop like this, they will win plaudits from the Trump-hating media, seal-clapping boomers in their own party, and even figures on the Podcast Right — including low-watt conspiracists like ex-Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

As we’ve noted before, Democrats have no platform beyond opposing Trump; all too many are happy to lie and cheat and slander as long as the main thrust is Orange Man Bad. 

And so they’ll keep offering up circuses, as the Lutnick and Gates hearings are sure to be — and so reminding America that, whatever foibles afflict the GOP, Democrats have nothing but the most cynical efforts to exploit the very worst elements of human nature.
