49ers’ Mike Evans goes viral for bizarre fashion statement during scrimmage against Chargers
· California PostSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans made a bold fashion statement before the team’s scrimmage against the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday.
Evans, 32, was seen participating in warm-ups alongside his teammates in his regular uniform, but it had a bit of a twist to it.
The pants on Evans’ uniform were seen cut off all the way to his upper thighs, sparking a frenzy of trolls poking fun at the former Super Bowl winner and six-time Pro Bowl selection.
The X account @NFL_DovKleiman called Evans’ pants “booty shorts” and said Evans was “embracing the San Francisco culture.”
The X account, @Bbyhulk29 wrote “What the f— is going on.”
Another account, @MonicaEvers1 called the shorts “nostalgic,” and posted a GIF of the infamous “Who wears short shorts” commercial that originally aired by the hair removal brand “Nair” in 1987.
Evans’ physique was also poked at as one football fan claimed he doesn’t have a “butt.” @Chrisheatcanes wrote, “More like leg shorts or back shorts.”
Regardless of how people feel about Evans’ look at practice, the 49ers wide receiver appeared to be moving quite well, despite previously dealing with “tightness” — a diagnosis that has spread across the 49ers’ training camp.
On Tuesday, the California Post reported head coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t seem too concerned with Evans‘ tightness, saying Evans was pulled from practice as a precaution. Evans was marked on the team’s injury report on Aug. 2 due to a quad strain.
Tightness or not, there is a concern with Evans when it comes to injuries. He appeared in just eight games last season due to a nagging hamstring.
