The Houthi offensive in Yemen reflects regional tensions
The escalation by pro-Iranian rebels comes as Tehran has shifted from a defensive to an offensive military doctrine, while its leverage in the Strait of Hormuz has weakened.

The escalation has also wounded more than 70 civilians in Saudi Arabia and targeted energy and military sites in the kingdom, effectively ending an informal truce that had held since 2022. The escalation is aimed at shifting the balance of power within Yemen, but it also reflects broader regional tensions as the war between the United States and Iran continues.
