Foreign Office issues cyclone warning for popular sun destination
by Taite Johnson · Wales OnlineA warning has been issued for those travelling to parts of Australia as a cyclone is set to hit this week. Tropical cyclone Alfred is forecast to sweep parts of Australia from Wednesday, March 5 bringing adverse weather.
FDCO is warning Brits travelling to Australia as Alfred is expected to bring extreme weather to multiple areas. Cyclone season in Australia runs from November to April with mainly Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia being affected.
The tropical cyclone is forecast to bring adverse weather to Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales from Wednesday. This could cause localised flash flooding and severe coastal hazards which could lead to transport disruption and power outages.

There are also risks of bushfires with Australian authorities advising that for large areas of the country there is an increased risk of bushfires from now and throughout the summer. Local authorities have information and safety advice online to help visitors and citizens.
