Latest Maine Senate polls on Collins vs. Jackson ahead of midterms
· The Fresno BeeMaine's Senate race is one to watch, as Sen. Susan Collins is the only Republican up for reelection in a state that President Donald Trump lost in 2024.
Collins, running for a sixth term, faces former state Senate president and logger Troy Jackson. As a race considered a "toss-up" by the Cook Political Report, it could be one of a handful that decide which party controls the Senate after the midterms.
Trump's approval rating in the state is underwater, and much of Jackson's campaign has tried to pin Collins to Trump's record. But despite that, Collins has stayed in play, according to polls, and she sticks to campaigning on her bipartisan record and bringing investments back to Maine. Plus, Mainers may remember 2020, when polls found the well-funded Democrat Sara Gideon leading Collins by a wider margin, and Collins ended up handily defeating Gideon anyway.
As of Election Day eve (Nov. 2), Jackson is leading by 3.3 percentage points on average, according to aggregator RealClearPolitics. Here is a closer look at the latest polls:
