Rascon allegedly fired at officers, who returned fire and struck him multiple times in the 2800 block of Huntington, near R Street.

Rascon was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery. He remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

Neither officer was injured. Both officers have been with the department for four years, police said.

Police said the man is on active parole and has a prior Fresno County arrest involving assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
