Who’s running for Madera County supervisor seats in June? Here are the candidates

Three seats on the Madera County Board of Supervisors are up for grabs in the June primary.

Two of the board’s incumbents will each face a challenger. District 5 Supervisor Robert Macaulay is not seeking re-election.

The election will take place June 2. Registered voters can expect to begin receiving their vote-by-mail ballots in early May.

Here’s a look at who is running for Madera County supervisor in the 2026 primary election.

Madera County Supervisor District 1

The current District 1 supervisor, Jordan Wamhoff, is seeking reelection in the June primary. Wamhoff has also worked as a Fresno police officer for the past 15 years and is the co-founder of SolarQuote Installation and Maintenance.

Benjamin Martin is challenging Wamhoff for the District 1 seat. He was a real estate broker for around 20 years, and now farms gourmet mushrooms and sells them to local restaurants. He was convicted and later pardoned by President Donald Trump for participating in the Jan. 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

Madera County Supervisor District 2

The District 2 incumbent, David Rogers, is seeking another term. Rogers previously served two terms as councilmember and two terms as mayor of Chowchilla before he was elected as Madera County Supervisor in 2010.

Current Chowchilla councilmember and former mayor, John Chavez, is set to challenge Rogers for the District 2 seat. He runs Cornaggia’s Bakery, a family business, which has been a part of Chowchilla since 1925.

Madera County Supervisor District 5

The current District 5 supervisor, Robert Macaulay, is not seeking re-election. Four candidates are running for the seat.

Frank Bigelow has made a bid to serve as the district’s representative for a second time. He previously held the seat for four terms before his election to the California State Assembly in 2012. Bigelow also manages his family’s multi-generation cattle ranch.

Yosemite Unified School District Trustee, Charles “Brook” Allen, is running for the District 5 seat. Allen is the owner of The Rusty Piston automotive repair shop in Oakhurst and co-owner of Lepley Trees tree service.

Melanie “Mel” Barker, a Navy veteran and local business owner, is a candidate for the District 5 seat. Baker is the co-owner of Summit Real Estate.

Actor, small businessman and rancher, Mark Reed, is running for the District 5 seat.
