Donald Trump Jr.'s Ex Kimberly Guilfoyle Resigns as Ambassador to Greece
· The Fresno BeeKimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation from her position as U.S. ambassador to Greece following misconduct allegations.
"My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again," Guilfoyle, 57, wrote via X on Tuesday, October 13. "While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement and the country I love will never end."
Guilfoyle's announcement came shortly after White House press secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed at her inaugural press briefing that President Donald Trump and the White House had asked Guilfoyle to resign.
"She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well," Zacharia told reporters, per NBC News.
Guilfoyle made headlines earlier this month when The Wall Street Journal reported that she had asked Trump donor Eric Deters to pay off a $100,000 American Express bill shortly before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025.
According to messages reviewed by the publication, Guilfoyle asked Deters to wire the money directly to American Express, saying the transaction would not leave a paper trail. She also offered to help Deters gain access to Trump administration officials. (Deters said he never made the payment.)
When announcing her resignation, Guilfoyle addressed the allegations directly and denied any wrongdoing.
"These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation and my integrity," she wrote via X. "I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service."
Guilfoyle's attorney, Jesse Binnall, previously disputed the authenticity of the messages, claiming his client had been paid to speak at events before her nomination and "was owed a balance for traveling to and supporting these patriotic events."
In her latest social media post, Guilfoyle - who was previously engaged to first son Donald Trump Jr.before splitting in 2024 - said she was proud of her work as the U.S. ambassador to Greece.
She also expressed her support for Trump's agenda as America prepares to vote in the midterm elections on November 3.
"It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve the United States of America," she wrote. "My deepest heartfelt appreciation to the people of Greece for their hospitality, partnership and welcoming me with open arms. God bless President Trump, God bless our incredible diplomats and service members and God bless the United States of America."
