Bantwal: Court cracks down on juvenile riding; two vehicle owners fined Rs 25,000 each

Bantwal, May 18: The ACJG and JMFC Court imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 each on two vehicle owners for allegedly allowing minor boys to ride two-wheelers in separate cases detected during traffic inspections.
According to Bantwal Traffic police station, the violations came to light during routine vehicle checking drives conducted within the traffic police limits.
In the first incident, reported on April 6, 2026, police found a minor riding a two-wheeler bearing registration number KA-19-HT-9694 at Melkaar.
In another case detected on April 28, 2026, a minor was caught riding a two-wheeler bearing registration number KA05KG6785 near B C Road.
Following the incidents, Bantwal Traffic police registered cases against the owners of both vehicles under Section 199(A) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act for permitting minors to operate vehicles.
Subsequently, charge sheets were filed before the ACJG and JMFC Court.
During the hearing held on Monday, May 18, the court found both vehicle owners guilty and directed them to pay fines of Rs 25,000 each.
Police officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb juvenile riding and improve road safety in the region.
