Dog owner shoots dogs after they entered his home, killed his dog in West Jordan, police say
by Curtis Booker ksl · KSL.comWEST JORDAN — Two large dogs entered a home with an open garage door in West Jordan on Thursday, killing a smaller dog at the home before they were shot by the smaller dog's owner, police said.
One of the large dogs was killed, and the other was injured.
Officers were called to a home near Cadenza Drive in West Jordan just after 3:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired, West Jordan police said.
The resident said two large dogs entered the home through an opened garage door, then "attacked" the resident's small dog, killing it, according to police.
One of the large dogs also bit the resident. The resident allegedly then shot the dogs, killing one and wounding the other, police said.
The owner of the two dogs that allegedly initiated the attack was located and took the injured dog to a veterinarian.
The owner who shot the dogs is not facing charges, police said. It's unclear if the owner of the larger dogs will be cited.
West Jordan police and animal control responded to the incident.
Police did not specify the dogs' breeds.
