GREEN RIVER — Two men were arrested Tuesday after leading troopers on a chase that reached speeds of 130 mph.

The investigation began Tuesday morning when emergency dispatchers received a 911 call. The caller did not speak and hung up a short time later, but dispatchers said they could hear a woman crying and two men yelling, according to a police booking affidavit.

Police determined the call came from a vehicle traveling east on I-70. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted the suspected vehicle stopped in the shoulder of the freeway where the driver and passenger were switching places, the affidavit states.

"As I exited my vehicle, I could see the driver in the (driver's side) mirror look at me, and then the vehicle fled. A pursuit was initiated. Along the pursuit, the female passenger was kicked out of the vehicle," the trooper wrote in the affidavit.

"The vehicle was driving at excessive speeds of 130 mph and greater in both a 60-mph zone and 80-mph zone," according to the affidavit.

The vehicle's tires were spiked by an Emery County sheriff's deputy just outside of Green River. The car came to a stop two miles later and two men got out and ran, the affidavit states.
