PARK VALLEY, Box Elder County — A Box Elder County man was killed in an ATV accident Monday afternoon, according to the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened along Dove Creek, in the western part of the county on the edge of the Great Basin, said Box Elder County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Cade Palmer in a statement.

"At approximately 2:20 p.m., hunters observed a cloud of dust in the area and ultimately discovered an overturned ATV and the deceased driver," the statement said.

The driver was identified as Eric Edwards, 51, of Bothwell, around 4 miles west of Tremonton.

"A thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is being conducted," Palmer said. The sheriff's office is urging the public to "exercise caution and prioritize safety when operating recreational vehicles."

Just last month, a Tremonton wildland firefighter was killed while crossing state Route 102 on an ATV in Thatcher.

"The loss of a loved one always brings profound grief, and we extend our deepest condolences to all the family, friends, and community members affected by this tragic event," Palmer said.
