Have You Seen This? Stadium monster accepts peanut and hot dog offerings

UNDERNEATH THE BLEACHERS — This year has been a disaster for the New York Mets, which isn't really news anymore.

However, at least the National League East cellar-dwellers have produced some entertainment lately, from Jefry Yan's unique jumping celebration to this literal cellar-dweller lurking underneath Citi Field's seats.

Fans this week were surprised to see a mysterious paw rise from the stadium, reaching for discarded peanuts while the Mets clashed with the San Diego Padres on the field.

The creature, which appears to have been a raccoon, also accepted a hot dog offering while the game played on.

While the Mets may miss out on the playoffs, at least Citi Field may have found its new mascot or postgame janitor. And if they do turn it around, fans may have to make even more food offerings to the stadium monster.
