25-year-old arrested and charged with murder after fatal shooting of man in Waterloo

Police have arrested two people in relation to the death of Nathaniel Sturmey who was shot dead at a Malone Road, Waterloo address in April.

Multiple search warrants were executed this morning with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad at addresses in Moera and Stokes Valley.

A 25-year-old male has been arrested for murder.

A 46-year-old female has been arrested for accessory after the fact to murder.

They will appear in the Hutt Valley District Court today.

Further arrests and charges are likely as the investigation progresses.

Scene examinations are being completed, and the community can expect to see an increased Police presence in the area.

“We would like to reassure the community that there is not anticipated to be any risk to the public and police will be conducting reassurance patrols and maintaining visibility within the wider area,” said Detective Inspector Jamie Woods, Field Crime Manager, Wellington Police.

“We thank those who have come forward and spoken to us and again urge anyone with information to make contact.”
