Stadium Management calls for stricter Orbit v Pirates measures

by · KickOff

Bertie Grobbelaar from Stadium Management has warned against fans who will be going to the sold-out Betway Premiership match between Orbit College FC and Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium without valid tickets.

Grobbelaar wants the Act 2 of 2010 rule to be implemented in domestic matches around the country to stop this barbaric behavior.

The Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act 2 of 2010 [SASREA] is a South African law designed to safeguard the physical well-being and property of people attending sporting events, and similar gatherings.

Grobbelaar says the Act 2 of 2010 should be implemented at all times.

"This is not a tendency that is limited to Johannesburg and at the venues we manage, you see it all over," Grobelaar told SABC News.

"Last month I have seen footage at Bloemfontein where gates were broken, at Cape Town where gates were broken, Moses Mabhida [Stadium in Durban], we've now seen Saturday at Orlando Stadium where about four of the stadium gates were physically broken and people gaining access.

"Not the last [Soweto] Derby [But] the one before we had 20 000 unticketed people in the precinct. They are only here with one aim and with one purpose, to gain access in to the game otherwise you won't be here."
